In the power industry, silicon carbide ceramic pumps are widely used in Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) systems. In the wet desulfurization process of coal-fired power plants, the slurry is typically highly corrosive, highly abrasive, and contains a large amount of solid particles. Traditional metal pumps are prone to corrosion and wear. Thanks to their extremely high hardness (Mohs hardness > 9.2) and excellent corrosion resistance, silicon carbide ceramic pumps have become the ideal replacement for conventional metal pumps.
Additionally, silicon carbide wear-resistant ceramics also play a key role in ash and slag handling systems in thermal power plants. The ash and slag contain a large number of solid particles, which cause severe wear on related equipment—such as ash and slag pumps—during conveying and processing. When silicon carbide wear-resistant ceramics are applied to the vulnerable parts of these pumps, they significantly enhance the equipment's resistance to abrasion.
